... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 100 am MDT for
southeastern Las Animas County...

At 1030 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain have moved south and east of the warned area. Doppler
radar is estimating between 2 and 4 inches of rain has fallen across
extreme southeastern Las Animas County.

Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern
Las Animas County.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

... The Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
1115 PM MDT for southeastern Las Animas and southwestern Baca
counties...

At 1027 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated light to moderate rain due
to thunderstorms... with the heaviest rain across southwestern Baca
County at this time. This will cause Arroyo and Small Stream
flooding in the advisory area.

This flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Las
Animas and southwestern Baca counties.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Pintada creek...
tecolate creek... north Carrizo creek... Saltillo creek... middle Water
Creek... Cottonwood Creek... east Carrizo creek... South Fork Sand
Arroyo and west Carrizo creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally...
country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and
other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

... The Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until
1230 am MDT for east central Las Animas... southwestern Prowers...
northwestern Baca and southeastern bent counties...

At 1021 PM MDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms moving across northern Baca and southern bent and
Prowers countie. Radar is estimating between 3/4 and 1 1/2 inches of
rain has fallen over the past hour. This will cause Arroyo and Small
Stream flooding in the advisory area... as well as standing and
ponding of water on area roadways.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Two Buttes and Two Buttes Reservoir.

Antelope Creek... rule creek... north Bear Creek... Two Butte creek...
Plum Creek... little Mustang creek... snake Arroyo... little angry

afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Colorado... south central Colorado and
southeast Colorado... including the following areas... in east
central Colorado... El Paso County and Teller County and the
Rampart Range. In south central Colorado... Fremont County...
northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains... southern Sangre de
Cristo Mountains... Wet Mountain Valley and Wet Mountains. In
southeast Colorado... Baca County... Bent County... Crowley
County... eastern Kiowa County... eastern Las Animas County...
Huerfano County... Otero County... Prowers County... Pueblo
County... western Kiowa County and western Las Animas County.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* monsoon moisture will remain over southeast Colorado. At the
surface... easterly upslope flow will enhance thunderstorm
development over the mountains and plains. A large complex of
thunderstorms is expected over southeast Colorado overnight.
Thunderstorms will be slow moving with rainfall rates of up to
two inches per hour.

* Flooding of urban areas... creeks... arroyos and normally dry
washes will be possible this afternoon through Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall on burn scars may result in dangerous mud and
ash flows. High flows may occur on area streams and rivers due
to increased runoff.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
