* effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 100 PM
until 800 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80
    mph possible
isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

northwest of Harrison Arkansas to 25 miles west southwest of De
Queen Arkansas. For a complete depiction of the watch see the
associated watch outline update (wous64 kwns wou1).

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally
do produce tornadoes.

unstable with MLCAPE as high as 3000-5000 j/kg... with storm
organization likely to be aided by moderate north-northeasterly
mid-level winds. Damaging winds and bouts of large hail will be
possible into this evening.

to 2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 70
knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm
motion vector 01045.

Excessive Heat Warning

Statement as of 3:51 AM CDT on July 23, 2014

Expires 9:00 PM EDT on July 23, 2014

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this
evening...

An excessive heat warning is in effect...

For the following counties...

* in Oklahoma... Tulsa.

Hazardous weather...
* a ridge of high pressure aloft will remain entrenched over the
   region today... allowing high temperatures to climb
   into the mid to upper 90s this afternoon. Combining this heat
   with high humidity in place will yield dangerous heat indices
   in the 105 to 110 degree range this afternoon. Overnight lows in
   the Tulsa Metro have remained very warm during the overnight... and
   have provided little relief from the heat.

Impacts...
* the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will
   combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses
   are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...
* take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
   possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
   evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
   stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
   possible and drink plenty of water.

* To reduce risk during
   outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration
   recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air
   conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be
   moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
   emergency... call 911.
